In the late 1800’s, Oscar Wilde wrote a short story entitled ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray.’ In this black fairy tale, the title character remains youthful and unencumbered by his wrongdoings while his portrait hideously ages over the years with the weight of his sins. Our putrid portrait is true to the original source material, featuring a self-absorbed Dorian that turns “rotten” to the core.

Ghoulish Factoid: Oscar Wilde’s story was made into a 1942 film featuring Ivan Le Lorraine Albright's famous painting of the decayed Dorian Gray - which took over a year to create. The painting is now owned by the Chicago Metropolitan Museum. This film later became one of the inspirations behind the creation of the changing portraits seen is the cobwebbed halls of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion.
